1540 (ca.), Lucas Cranach the Elder, Venus with Cupid the Honey Thief -- Gemäldegalerie (Berlin)

From the museum label: Venus points at her son Cupid, who is holding a honeycomb in his right hand and trying to fend off bees. The Latin verses on the upper picture edge originate with the Greek poet Theocritus. According to these, the sweet-toothed Cupid is stung by bees while stealing honey. In response, his mother teaches him that wounds from his love-arrows are more painful than bees' stings.
