1445, Fra Filippo Lippi, Profile Portrait of a Young Woman -- Gemäldegalerie (Berlin)

From the museum label: This portrait is one of the earliest female profile portraits from Florence. It depicts a young girl of marriageable age from a prosperous family. Her jewellery is discreet and yet opulent. The hand on the chest refers to her inner beauty, which consists in virtue. Cast shadows and the transparent veil demonstrate Filippo Lippi's illusionistic skills.
