1505 (ca.), Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino), Mary with the Christ Child, John the Baptist, and a Child Saint (the "Terranuova Madonna") -- Gemäldegalerie (Berlin)

From the museum label: During his time in Florence (1504-1508), Raphael was inspired by works by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. From the former, he likely adopted the round format, while from the latter he took the Madonna's outstretched hand. The words on the banner, 'Eese agnus del', refer to the phrase: 'Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world'. Jesus takes hold of the banner and hence of his destiny.
