1532 (ca.), Correggio (Antonio Allegri), Leda and the Swan -- Gemäldegalerie (Berlin)
From the museum label: The picture was part of a cycle featuring scenes of Jupiter's sexual debaucheries in transmuted form - in this case, as a swan. Correggio painted the sequence for the Duke of Mantua, Federico II. This piece moved its way through famous collections: for example, that of the Spanish king Philip Il and the emperor Rudolf Il in Prague. Leda's face was destroyed in the 18th century and repainted by Jakob Schlesinger in 1834/35.
