1935 (ca.), Diego Rivera, Portrait of Frida Kahlo -- Los Angeles County Museum of Art
From the museum label: This portrait of the artist Frida Kahlo might be Diego Rivera's only easel painting of his wife, whom he married in 1929. It is similar to Kahlo's own self-portraits in its direct frontal address. The work was created during a turbulent time in the couple's relationship, before their brief divorce in 1939 and remarriage in 1940. Rivera kept the painting in his studio, where it was found at the time of his death.
