1935, Albert Gleizes, Crucifixion -- National Gallery of Ireland (Dublin)

From the museum label: Albert Gleizes was an artist, writer, and theorist. In the 1920s he developed a dynamic style of Cubism according to his 'Translation and Rotation' theory of painting. At this time, he also began to turn his attention to Christian subject-matter. This picture depicts the Crucifixion, with Mary and Saint John. Irish artists, Maine Jellett and Evie Hone, visited Gleizes in his Paris studio in the early 1920s. They applied many of his theories to their art according to their individual interests.
