1930 (ca.), George Leslie Hunter, Reflections, Balloch -- National Gallery of Scotland (Edinburgh)
From the museum label: After the First World War, Hunter spent extended periods in the south of France. The quality of light there prompted him to use more vibrant colours in his art. Hunter worked with such intensity that his mental health suffered. In 1929, he returned to Scotland to recuperate, staying at Balloch on the southern shore of Loch Lomond. The reflections mentioned in this work's title could refer to both the sunlight twinkling on the water and the artist's own thoughts during this difficult period in his life.
