1925, John Duncan Fergusson, In the Patio: Margaret Morris -- National Gallery of Scotland (Edinburgh)

From the museum label: Margaret Morris (1891-1980) was an internationally recognised pioneer of modern dance. She was also a frequent source of creative inspiration for Fergusson, her life partner. He painted this vibrant portrait of Morris at the Chateau-des-Enfants in Cap d'Antibes in the south of France, when she was running a summer dance school. Morris and her students helped to make the French Riviera a fashionable place to visit at that time of year. Her yellow cap is part of a dryad (tree nymph) dance costume.
