1895 (ca.), Paul Cézanne, Montagne Sainte-Victoire -- National Gallery of Scotland (Edinburgh)
From the museum label: Cézanne settled in his native Aix-en-Provence in 1883, from which date the majestic Montagne Sainte-Victoire became one of his favourite motifs. This view was painted from a position to the south-west of Aix, overlooking the valley of the Arc. The white ground acts as the equivalent of the white paper Cézanne used for his watercolours, giving the canvas an unfinished appearance.
