1945, Joan Miró, Woman dreaming of escape -- Joan Miró Foundation (Barcelona)
From the museum label: This work belongs to a series of paintings on a white background, where Miró used much of his repertoire of signs. The woman and the characters, depicted with their sexual attributes, the eye or the three hairs, are longing to connect with the cosmic world via the bird or the ladder of escape. Despite the desire to link these two worlds, the depicted elements appear individually. The artist's sign language gradually evolved from line to gesture, and combined slow and fast graphic work in a single piece.
