From the exhibition label: Bonnard painted this view many times. Working at Le Cannet several years before purchasing a home and settling there, he walked the hills above the village. From above, he observed the view of the Esterel Mountains and the Bay of Cannes. For the artist, the familiarity of the view never lessened its impact.
