1876, Paul Cezanne, La route (Le mur d'enceinte) [The Road (The Old Wall)] -- Auckland Art Gallery

From the gallery label:

Paul Cezanne submitted this view of Jas de Bouffan, his boyhood home near Aix, to the Third Impressionist Exhibition of 1877. It was the second time he exhibited with that group of innovative artists. Setting up his easel on the road, he directed his gaze towards the jostling cluster of red-roofed farm buildings just beyond the property's old stone enclosure. To depict the green, yellow and ochre foliage of the four sun-drenched trees in the picture's foreground, the artist uses multidirectional dabs of pigment in the Impressionist style. The parallel, rectangular strokes describing the left side of the wall are precursors to the more systematic 'constructive stroke' that Cezanne formulated around 1879 as he moved towards Post-Impressionism.
