1455 (ca.), Filippo Lippi, Adoration of the Christ Child with St. Joseph, St. Jerome, St. Hilarion, St. Mary Magdalen and Angels -- Uffizi Gallery (Florence)

From the museum label: This is the first version of a composition invented by Filippo Lippi, in which the iconography of the Nativity is merged with that of the Adoration of the Christ Child in the presence of saints. The scene is set in a flowery meadow somewhat at odds with the impervious and unrealistic landscape in the background. The picture comes from the convent of San Vincenzo d'Annalena in Florence.
