1515 (ca.), Lorenzo di Credi, Adoration of the Christ Child -- Uffizi Gallery (Florence)

From the museum label: Certain parts of this painting, such as the angel's wings and the Virgin's tunic, are unfinished. The picture offers us an interesting insight into the way the work load was shared out in a Renaissance artist's workshop, with the master painting the most demanding and important parts of a commission, then leaving it to his assistants to complete the job.

The tondo, of unknown provenance, is recorded as being in the Uffizi as early as 1704.
