1567, Tintoretto (Jacopo Robusti), Madonna of the Treasurers (detail) -- Gallerie dell'Accademia (Venice)

From the museum label: As if in a procession, the treasurers of the Republic, accompanied by their secretaries with bags full of coins, pay homage to the Virgin, accompanied on the left by Theodore and Mark, the Republic's patron saints. The three chamberlains Michele Pisani, Lorenzo Dolfin, and Marino Malipiero, identifiable thanks to the coats of arms depicted bottom left, proudly affirm their role as servants of the state, whose financial administration they are responsible for.
