1932, Georgia O'Keeffe, White Canadian Barn II -- Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York)
From the museum label: Seeking to escape the pressures of her life in New York, O'Keeffe drove to the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec, Canada, for a few weeks respite in the summer of 1932. There she painted a series of seven barns. The structures' austere and blackened doors and windows presage her later series of New Mexico patio doors.
