Wishing to return to a primitive style of art free of all academism, Natalia Goncharova drew inspiration from the imagery of the loubki, prints comparable to the popular imagery that often illustrated Russian tales. The ternary rhythm applied to the houses, trees and dancers confirms this primitivism.
