1516 (ca.), Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino) and workshop, The Madonna of Divine Love -- Louvre Museum (Paris)
From the museum label: This painting, made after 1515 for Leonello da Carpi, has been variously attributed to Raphael and to his pupils Giulio Romano and Giovanni Francesco Penni. An infrared reflectogram revealed a very linear and detailed under- drawing, rather different from the finished painting. The differences revealed in the underdrawing bear no relation to the cartoon on display here (cat. 78), which corresponds exactly, and on the same scale, to the final painting, and is therefore a copy after it.
