1924, Maurice Utrillo, La Maison Bernot -- Musée de l'Orangerie (Paris)

From the museum label: This colourful painting, which is similar to his works from the 1920s, depicts a group of people walking down the rue du Mont- Cenis on the Butte Montmartre in Paris. On the right is the bell tower of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica. The choice of angle includes the "Bernot House", coal merchants, on the left. Utrillo painted this picture when he was living in the Ain region, some distance from the capital. He probably used a postcard for this composition steeped in nostalgia for this neighbourhood which he loved.
