1924, Maurice Utrillo, La Maison de Berlioz (The Berlioz House) -- Musée de l'Orangerie (Paris)
From the museum label: The Berlioz House was located in Montmartre at the corner of the rue Saint-Vincent and the rue du Mont-Cenis. The composer Berlioz (1803-1869) lived there from 1834 to 1837. The painter Georges Braque set up his studio there in 1911. This highly geometric work is one of the artist's most austere paintings and epitomises his "white period". The only hint of colour is in the French flag on the right, which was probably added after war was declared, in the summer of 1914.
