1445 (ca.), Fra Carnevale, The Annunciation -- Alte Pinakothek, Munich

From the museum label: Within the rich architectural setting, the walled garden and the bed chamber symbolise the Virgin Mary's purity. The coat of arms over the entrance testifies that the painting was commissioned by Jacques Cœur. The French merchant and banker had frequent business dealings with Florence, where Fra Carnevale, who came from Urbino, was working in Fra Filippo Lippi's workshop.
