1622, Peter Paul Rubens, The Departure from Paris (3 May, 1617) -- Alte Pinakothek, Munich
From the museum label: In this scene that was later rejected, Marie de' Medici's banishment by her son Louis XIII is shown as the result of a false accusation, symbolised by Calumnia and her torch. Two harpies embody lying and falsehood. Marie is, however, accompanied by Innocentia who, as the personification of innocence, carries a lamb.
