1938, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, Lofoten Landscape with Cloud -- Germanisches Nationalmuseum (Nuremberg)
From the museum label: In 1928 Nay is regarded as one of the most gifted of the young German artists. In 1933 the Reichskunstkammer (Reich Chamber of Culture) refused to recognize him as a painter. In 1936 he is classified as a "degenerate artist". He found support in 1937 from the former director of the Lübeck museum, Carl Georg Heise, who had been chased out of office by the Nazis in 1933. Responding to a request from Heise, Edvard Munch financed a lengthy stay in Norway for his younger colleague.
