From the museum label: John baptizes Christ. This was the central panel of a Saint John's altarpiece in Heilsbronn monastery. It shows the painter, influenced by Dürer and Kulmbach, in his prime. Later the painting was attributed to Dürer and given to Emperor Rudolf II in 1606.
