1922, Emil Nolde, Landscape with Farmhouse -- Germanisches Nationalmuseum (Nuremberg)
From the museum label: The painting shows Farmer Petersen's farm situated next to Nolde's house "Utenwarf" in Denmark close to the German border. Nolde lived there until 1926. The composition is completely defined by the colors, which take on a life of their own compared with the colors of nature. Sky and water are yellow. The brilliancy of the rich hues is intensified by the deep green of the meadow and the purple of the roofs.
