From the museum label: The pair of portraits documents the jewelry worn in the 16th c. by office holders and persons of rank. Röhling was the municipal judge in Schneeberg and presided over the electoral silver mine in Saxony. On his chest he wears a portrait medal of Christian II (1583-1611), Elector of Saxony. Christina's triple chain is decorated with a Portuguese gold coin worth 10 ducats (a so-called Portugalöser). On her girdle of silver and gold chains hangs traveling cutlery with figural scenes. Her bracelets display the enameled coat of arms of her husband.
