1910, Pierre Bonnard, Female Nude in a Mirror -- Wallraf-Richartz Museum (Cologne)

From the museum label: This painting is not easy to read. First of all there is a mirror, beside that a chair, and hanging above that a dress with lots of flounces. And right beside them in this very cramped space is the wall. Only the mirror image and thus the view backwards creates a sense of distance. The mirror shows a half view of a female nude from behind. The woman for her part is looking out over the bluish surface of the neighbouring roof and into the distance. Pierre Bonnard was influenced by East Asian art, as is clear from the renunciation of perspective as well as the extreme vertical format.
