1917, Tomioka Tessai, The Old Site of the Wangchuan Villa -- National Museum of Asian Art (Washington)

From the museum label:

Wang Wei (ca. 699-ca. 761), the owner of the mountain residence Wangchuan, was considered the first true literati painter, and Tessai's painting is an homage to the very roots of the tradition he abided by. Paintings of the Wangchuan Villa were often done in handscroll format, but Tessai, ever the innovator, imbued this image with gorgeous colors and a vitality that stands out among other renderings of this frequently painted subject. The lavish blue and green pigments allude to landscape paintings of Wang Wei's Tang dynasty (618-907) and to Japan's own ancient yamato-e tradition.
