1887, Vincent van Gogh, Portrait of Leonie Rose Charbuy-Davy -- Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam)
From the museum label: Léonie Rose Charbuy-Davy was the niece of the art dealer Pierre-Firmin Martin, a friend of Theo and Vincent. Van Gogh portrayed Léonie emphatically as a mother, with a cradle in the background. The painting is built up entirely of dots and short strokes, and evidences Van Gogh's experiments with modern painting techniques.
