1888, Vincent van Gogh, The Yellow House ('The Street') -- Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam)
From the museum label: Excited by the intensity of the colours, Van Gogh decided to capture his dwelling on canvas. The Yellow House with the green shutters glows 'under a sulphur sun' against a 'pure cobalt sky. First he set up his studio on the ground floor; his bedroom was upstairs. Van Gogh wanted to turn it into an artists' house, where he could live and work together with others. In the end only Paul Gauguin came: he stayed for two months.
