1630, Frans Hals, Officers of the Calivermen's Civic Guard -- Frans Hals Museum (Haarlem)

From the museum label: The officers of the Calivermen's civic guard are walking down the steps of their headquarters in all their finery. Their bright sashes contrast against their black clothes and they carry halberds and pikes. One of them stands out with his light, embroidered garb and his head of curly hair - this is the ensign, or standard bearer. Through the window, a corner of the portrait Cornelis van Haarlem painted some 50 years earlier is visible. This is now also on show in the Frans Hals Museum.
