1650 (ca.), Frans Hals, Portrait of a woman with gloves -- Frans Hals Museum (Haarlem)

From the museum label: An unknown woman in a dark dress with a large white collar. She has white leather gloves: she wears one and holds the other. The painting was long regarded as 'doubtful', but restoration has brought Hals's loose painting technique to light again. The handling of the gloves, with vigorous brushstrokes, is particularly characteristic of Hals's work around 1650.
