1635, Anthony van Dyck, The Abbe Scaglia adoring the Virgin and Child -- National Gallery (London)
From the museum label: Though Cesare Alessandro Scaglia had spent most of his career as an ambassador for the dukes of Savoy, by the time this portrait was made he had fallen out of favour. Van Dyck appears to have painted the Virgin with the features of the duchess of Savoy, Christina of France, perhaps to reingratiate Scaglia with the Savoyards.
