1510 (ca.), Hieronymus Bosch, Christ Mocked (The Crowning with Thorns) -- National Gallery (London)

From the museum label: One of Christ's tormentors places the crown of thorns on his head. Another prepares to tear his garments. The spiked collar of the man, top right, resembles a dog collar. In contemporary devotional literature, Christ's tormentors were likened to savage dogs.
