1485 (ca.), Sandro Botticelli, Portrait of a Young Man -- National Gallery (London)

From the museum label: Sandro Botticelli was one of the first Italian artists to abandon the profile format for portraits in favour of a frontal view. The sitter here has not been identified. He wears a red hat known as a beretta. The panel appears to have been cut and more of his body may originally have been included.
