From the museum label: The Virgin is joined by a young John the Baptist and an unidentified female saint, who looks adoringly at the Child. They are situated in a mountainous landscape reminiscent of Titian's home region around Cadore in the Dolomites. Rain falls on the horizon while shepherds herding their flock on a meadow notice the angel in the clouds.
