1622 (ca.), Orazio Gentileschi, Lot and His Daughters -- Getty Museum (Los Angeles)

From the museum label: From the shelter of a cave, the daughters of Lot look back toward the city of Sodom while God destroys the sinful place they have fled. The interlocking arrangement of figures was among the artist's most sophisticated and successful inventions. The robust figure types and elegant rendering of textiles are characteristic of Gentileschi's mature style, as is the dramatic psychological contrast between Lot's drunkenness and the vigilance of his daughters.
