1895 (ca.), Edgar Degas, Resting after the Bath [pastel] -- Getty Museum (Los Angeles) (special exhibition)
From the museum label: The composition in this pastel has been scaled up and slightly adjusted from the related photograph, shown nearby. Tracing paper, which Degas used as a regular part of his process starting around 1890, enabled the artist to build up designs while easily modifying poses and settings. Although this was a working drawing. Degas signed it as a finished work of art and chose it as one of twenty sheets to publish in his lifetime.
