1875, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, The Skiff (La Yole) -- National Gallery (London)
From the museum label: Rowing boats, sailboats and steam trains crossing bridges were favourite motifs of the Impressionists. Renoir combines all three in this iridescent summer scene. It was probably painted at Chatou, a suburb on the Seine to the west of Paris that was associated with boating and frequented by Renoir.
