1508, Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino), Saint Catherine of Alexandria -- National Gallery (London)

From the museum label: Saint Catherine leans on the wheel upon which she was condemned to die, but which miraculously broke. She turns towards a heavenly light. Raphael painted the picture around the same time as The Madonna of the Pinks, which hangs nearby. The saint's facial features, especially her parted lips, are close to the Madonna's.
