#StandforCanada (Indigenous rights)
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) traces its origins to the May 1867 founding of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, less than two months before the Confederation of Canada in July 1867.
This year (2017), both CIBC and Canada celebrate its 150 anniversary. Someone has added the words "Indigenous Rights" to the #StandforCanada sign here at Commerce Court (CIBC's headquarters) to protest or raise awareness that Canada's Confederation also marked colonial imperialism that took the land from the Natives.
A few days after I took this photo, CIBC removed the "Indigenous Rights" stickers.
