Douglas DC3 Dakota and Avro Lancaster

It has been a very busy and exciting weekend. My English friends John and Greg came back to Toronto on their sixth visit and they are very generous to treat me to a weekend getaway in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Hamilton (Ontario).

While visiting the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, which is right next to the Hamilton John C. Munro International Airport, we were very fortunate to see one of the only two remaining Avro Lancaster bombers still airworthy in the world (i.e. still able to take to the sky). We watched the famous old World War II bombers take off and land a few times during our visit. Apparently the crew must perform at least 3 take-off-and-land cycles each year to maintain their certification.
