I resisted a so-called 'smartphone' for years until December 2014, when I finally bought a second-hand iPhone 5. I was going to buy a new, downmarket Android phone, but my techy, iPhone-user-friend warned me that if I needed any help on the smartphone, he would only know the iPhone and not the Android system. So I reluctantly spent CAD $400 on a second-hand iPhone. Yes, I still think I temporarily lost my mind when I did that.
