It's said one can easily tell how wealthy (and healthy) a community (neighbourhood) is by the presence or absence of banks, investment firms and supermarkets. A poor neighbourhood has no bank, investment firm or supermarket. This is actually quite true. Poor communities often have only quick-cash loan shops but hardly any bank where residents can deposit money; poor neighbourhoods also have KFCs, Taco Bells and McDonalds but no grocers where one can buy fresh meat and vegetables.
Well, the village of Woodmere might be very small (only 800 residents according to Wikipedia), it has a few banks, a Fidelity Investments office, an Apple store, a Tiffany's store, a Whole Foods market, plus other high-end shopping.
