"If You Make Your Home in the American Land"
Like so many Americans of Irish ancestry, I proudly celebrate St. Patrick's Day. As I get older, it's less about the beers and late night bar sing a longs as it is a reflection of gratitude for my ancestors. I think of their journey to America, and what that hard life must have been like. I hope they proudly look down on the life we have built as 3 generations of public servants, and lives dedicated to greater good. I think of their sacrifices, and how they truly led us to this life we're fortunate to live. For moments like this, where I have enjoyed the mostly still untamed American west in all its amazing glory. Tonight, I raise my cold beer in their memory. In perpetual gratitude. Slainte.
