New Capsule collection 'Preppy'

I finally finished my latest adventure in sewing! A mix and match collection inspired by iconic British brand Burberry and the Preppy style so popular in some Asian countries (also of course because hip young Asian buyers and aficionados of this brand have been instrumental in bringing it back to cool status). Who better to model this new collection than my coolest of cool trio of dolls - Ayumi Hauntingly Lovely, Ayumi Power House and Ayumi First Blush. Also in this collection, I ventured into new territory creating accessories - hats and bags! These are my very first attempts at making bags and my pricked finger tips are testament to how challenging they are to create. I made paper mocks-ups of the bags to understand the construction and they were then carefully constructed and lined using diamond glaze glue, hemming web, machine sewing and hand stitching. They are about 80% hand stitched. The Visor style hat, 'Handmaid', is inspired by a design in the current Burberry collection that I really fell in love with. But to make it work in doll scale, I decided to make it in two pieces - and also because I love versatility in items I create - to be able to use the different parts in combination and separately.
