Scoulton, Norfolk - Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity dates from the late 13th. century and is built from rubblestone and flint with ashlar quoins. The church has a thatched nave, slated north and south aisles, pantiled chancel and a 15th. century lead coved south porch. There is no chancel. The windows, all late 13th. or early 14th. century, are all filled with clear glass.

The unusual, unfinished, 4 stage west tower should have been crowned with a spire. It may be that changing economic fortunes in the years after the Black Death carried off half of Norfolk's population put paid to that. The bell frame has collapsed but the bell remains in the tower where there is a room with a fireplace for the curate.

The church gained Grade: I listed building status on 16 July 1958. (English Heritage Legacy ID: 220101).
