does it count as purist if it uses knock-off parts? i'm not sure!
a while ago i got a ko flashpoint/thomas wayne bats at a flea market and the face printing was...less than stellar, so i intended to fix it up eventually. instead of painting anything i just stuck some red gift paper leftover from christmas up there and swapped the original head with a newer, official one. now he can harass my batfamily.
(and yes, that's the 2019 batcave behind him. christmas was good this year)
