Baby thirteen-lined ground squirrel eating it's first shelled peanut (Explored)
This squirrel thought eating the shell was a good idea but soon realized after tasting it that the peanuts inside tasted a lot better!
Photo was taken last month in my back yard where several ground squirrels have their holes to their burrows right next to my back patio. They are only about 3" tall and probably weigh less than 1/2 pound. They've been so cute to watch, especially when I see them peeking in through my sliding door.
