Protect our paradise - Rock a Nore - Hastings

I'm getting on my high horse again....How can anyone look at this view and think, I know what would look good here, a huge marina with 1,300 houses running along the front of the cliff, with restaurants, shops and lots of other so called tourist attractions!! Obviously someone who's not in their right mind, or alternatively some greedy, selfish, arrogant person, who has not an ounce of respect towards Mother Nature. A couple of years ago a plan was put forward by Hastings Harbour Quarter Ltd to do just this and the local council at the time took the plan seriously by coming up with what was in their opinion all the advantages of it. Jobs, housing, helpful for the fishermen e.t.c. There's plenty of jobs, we have plenty of derelict buildings and the fishermen hadn't even been consulted to begin with. Everyone knew that the plan was just being sugar coated to make it seem more attractive. This site is an area of natural outstanding beauty, plus a special site of scientific interest. There have been many special fossil finds and it also has some of the best examples of algae in the world, but despite this over a million was spent on a feasibility study. Myself and the majority of others felt physically sick at the idea and desperately frustrated that there would inevitably be nothing we could do to prevent them destroying our little piece of paradise. This beautiful spot is a restful haven for many. A place where people come to reeenergise, a place that brings comfort and a place that eases a lot of troubled minds. Family and friends meet up to socialise, bbq, swim and kayak around the stunning coastline. A really enjoyable cheap day out, when for a lot of people money is tight. Everywhere needs a place like this for people to come and lift their listless souls from time to time and to destroy it would show a total lack of feeling and disrespect for people's opinions. Well, there was uproar, lots of petitions, angry letters and it has all gone quiet for a while. We all know not to become complacent though, as no doubt it will all rear it's ugly head again. The sad thing is that we all know the greedy powers that be, won't be happy until all our naturally beautiful sights that we've been blessed with are all concreted over and destroyed forever for financial gain.
